Mrs. Ellen A. (Kaczenski) Kobal, 75, a lifelong resident of Duryea, passed into Eternal Life Friday evening in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital surrounded by her loving family following an illness.
Born February 2, 1942 in Duryea, she was a daughter to the late Stanley J. and Margaret (Osiecki) Kaczenski.  Educated in the Duryea schools, she was a member of the 1959 graduating class of the former Duryea High School.
A devoted wife and mother, Ellen was a consummate homemaker, and previously assisted her daughter Diane in the daily operations of her flower shop, Decora Floral Boutique in Genetti's, Wilkes-Barre.
She previously was an active member in Holy Rosary Parish and its elementary school when her children were young, assisting in the cafeteria and various church functions.
She is remembered as being a wonderful cook and baker for her family and friends, whose recipies are difficult to duplicate as she always knew the right amount of each ingredient without the use of measuring spoons.
In her spare time, she enjoyed taking trips to Atlantic City and was an avid bingo player.
She and her husband, Mr. John G. Kobal celebrated fifty-five years of married life together this past April.
Mrs. Kobal was preceded in death by brothers Mr. Thomas Kaczenski and Mr. Stanley Kaczenski as well as by sisters Mrs. Helen Ramage, and Mrs. Alice Kotis.
Left to mourn her passing in addition to her beloved husband John at home are the couple's children, Diane M. Haduck of Sweet Valley, Karen A. Karpovich of Wilkes-Barre, John M. Kobal, at home and Denice Marchise and her husband Charles of Bear Creek.  Grandchildren, C.J., Michael, Chelsea, Casie, Donovan and Dominick; Great-grandchildren, Lucas, Damian, Julia and Aydan; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Memorial funeral services for Mrs. Kobal will be conducted on Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in Nativity of Our Lord Parish, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea.  The Reverend John V. Polednak, V.E., pastor will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Relatives and friends may join the Kobal family for visitation and remembrances Wednesday morning directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of her funeral mass.
