Miss Judith C. Lapinsky, 84, formerly of North Wilkes-Barre, more recently a resident of Bonham Nursing Center, Stillwater, passed into Eternal Life Saturday morning in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following an illness.

Born January 8, 1928 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Catherine (Modla) Lapinsky. She was a member of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community, previously attending the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre. A student of parochial education, she graduated from the former Sacred Heart Slovak School, and furthered her education by graduating from the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

Judith assisted her mother with the daily operations of the family business for many years.

She was preceded in death by brothers Joseph Lapinsky and Adolf (Eugene) Lapinsky and by a sister, Regina Stillman, R.N. Surviving, are her sister, Mrs. Rosemary Niznik, R.N. and her husband Stanley of North Wilkes-Barre, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Miss Lapinsky will be conducted on Friday at 10:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. in the Saint Stanislaus Kostka worship site of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community, with the Reverend Michael J. Kloton, Parochial Vicar, officiating.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances 9:00 a.m. Friday morning until the time of services.

Mrs. Isabel (Wineski) Materazzi, 85, of the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, passed into Eternal Life peacefully Monday morning in the Inpatient Unit of Hospice Community Care at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre Hospital.

Born March 9, 1926 in Hanover Township, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Helen (Baker) Wineski.

She was educated in the Hanover Township schools. Until her retirement, she had been employed in the local she industry as a sewing machine operator for over twenty years in several mills in the Wyoming Valley.

She was a member of Saint Faustina Parish Community, having previously attended Mass at the former Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke. Mrs. Materazzi loved to travel and is remembered as being an avid fan of polka dancing when her health would allow. She is also remembered by family and friends as being a devoted, loving mother and grandma to her entire family. Her daughters Arlene and Deborah along with her great-granddaughter, Isabella especially recall and are grateful for her sharing her culinary talents with them, specifically with her wonderful Italian and Polish dishes. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. Edward Wineski.

Surviving are her children and their spouses all of the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, including Melvin Materazzi and his wife Theresa; Arlene Charnichko and her husband Michael, with whom she resided for the past month and Deborah Warman and her husband Sonny. Grandchildren, including Michelle Caccia, Lisa Urbanski and David Materazzi; Great-Grandchildren, Kristy Barner, Nicholas Materazzi and Isabella Urbanski.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Thursday from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre Heights. Interment will follow in Hanover Green Cemetery, Hanover Township. Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

There will be a vigil service conducted during those hours with the Reverend James R. Nash, pastor of Saint Faustina Parish, officiating.

In lieu of floral tributes, memorial contributions are requested in Mrs. Materazzi's name to Hospice Community Care, 601 Wyoming Avenue, Kingston, PA 18704.

Mrs. Dorothy (Ihnat) Lozinak, 77, of Countrywood Drive, Hanover Township, passed into Eternal Life Thursday afternoon in the Nanticoke Special Care Hospital following a lingering illness.

Born May 15, 1934 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Ihnat. Educated in the city schools, she was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

Previously, she was a member of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre.

Dorothy is remembered by family and friends as enjoying the art of making ceramics and often shared her craft with those she knew and loved.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Walter Lozinak on February 25, 2009.

Surviving are her daughters, Michele Bond, Danielle Demellier and Elizabeth Standiford and her grandchildren Ryan Hoosier, Jillian Raybuck and Halee Ward, all of Vero Beach, Florida; Her brother, Carl Ihnat of Wilkes-Barre; Sisters, Nancy Olson of Collegeville, PA, Betty Gripp of Bear Creek Township and Marge Reisinger of North Wilkes-Barre; Several nieces and nephews including Michael and Viera Adameck and their two children Tina and Dominic of Hanover Township.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lozinak will be conducted on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Worship Site of Saint Robert Bellarmine Parish with the Reverend Kevin P. Mulhern, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township. Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00; on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Morris’ North Wilkes-Barre Chapel. Vigil services will be conducted during Sunday afternoon’s visitation period with Father Mulhern officiating.

Miss Eleanor E. Heylek, R.N., a resident mof the North End section of the city, passed into Eternal Life Wednesday afternoon in the Little Flower Manor following an illness.

Born September 18, 1927 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Carl J. and Veronica (Hvozdovic) Heylek.  She was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart Parochial School, North Wilkes-Barre, the James M. Coughlin High School and the former Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, both of Wilkes-Barre.

Until her retirement, she had been employed as a registered nurse with the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital for over thirty years, and in ambulatory services for fifteen years.  Previously, she was employed by the Saint Agnes Hospital of White Plains, NY; the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City; and the Arlington Hospital of Arlington, VA. 

She previously was also employed by the Scranton Diocese Parochial Child
Health Association as a school nurse.

She was a member of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community, and previously faithfully attended Mass at the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, of North Wilkes-Barre, where she served on the parish altar and rosary society, the Social Concerns committee and would volunteer annually at the parish bazaars. 

She is an associate member of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Alumni
Association and a former member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Saint
Anne, Branch #1294.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Carl T. Heylek in 1983.

Surviving are a niece, Mrs. Carol Gurioli and her husband, Larry of Virginia Beach, Virginia, several cousins including Rosemary Dupre and Ruth Bardar, both of Wilkes-Barre and a number of friends.

Funeral services for Miss Heylek will be conducted at 9:00 a.m. Saturday morning from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Saint Stanislaus Kostka worship site of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre with the Reverend Father Kenneth M. Seegar, Pastor, officiating.

Interment will be in the Sacred Heart of Jesus parish cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas.

Mrs. Catherine (Rodzinak) Glowinski, 85, of North Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life early Monday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township following a lingering illness.

Born April 7, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Zosh) Rodzinak. A student of parochial education, she was a graduate of the former Saint Nicholas High School, Wilkes-Barre, class of 1944.

Mrs. Glowinski was a member of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community, and previously attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, both of Northeast Wilkes-Barre.

Until her health deteriorated, she loved to crochet as a favorite past time. She is remembered by family and friends as being a devoted mother and grandmother, whose focus in life was in nurturing her children into adulthood and was a very religious, and faithful Catholic.

She was preceded in death by her husband Mr. Edward B. Glowinski on May 1, 2005, and by brothers and a sister, Michael, John, Joseph, Anthony & Albert Rodzinak, Stephen Mrovcak and Eleanor Koschak.

Surviving are her three beloved sons, David with whom she resided, Edward and his wife Caroline of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Mark of Maple Shade, NJ; A grandson, Mark Glowinski II; a Sister, Lucy Radzwilla of Larksville and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Glowinski will be conducted on Thursday at 9:00 a.m . from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by the celebration of her funeral mass at 9:30 a.m. in the Saint Stanislaus Kostka worship site of Saint Andre Bessette Parish Community. The Reverend Michael J. Kloton, parochial vicar, will officiate. Interment will follow in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Dorchester Drive, Dallas. Mrs. Mildred C. (Parks) Atkinson, 69 a resident of Park Avenue Towers, Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Thursday evening in the Birchwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Nanticoke following an illness.

Born September 19, 1942 in the Bronx Borough of New York City, she was a daughter of the late George and Mildred (Rossler) Parks. She was educated in the greater New York City school system. Mrs. Atkinson was an avid bingo player and could often be found participating in various games at Park Avenue Towers or at the West Side Walk-In Bingo, of Kingston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. James F. Atkinson in 1986.

Surviving are her three beloved children James F. Atkinson II of Ocala, Florida, Karen Ann Noss of Wilkes-Barre and Donna Marie Silvers and her husband Dominic of Lewisburg. Grandchildren, including James Atkinson III, Healther Yaron, Victoria Atkinson and Dominic Silvers; Great-Grandson, Valentino Atkinson; Brother and Sisters, George, Dorothy, Patricia and Betty, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Atkinson will be conducted on Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. from the John V. Morris - Charles J. Leagus Funeral Home, 281 East Northampton Street, Wilkes-Barre Heights.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the Atkinson family. Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances Sunday afternoon from 2:00 until 4:00 and evening from 7:00 until the time of services.

Mrs. Dolores M. "Dolly" Pazuhanich, 79, of East Chestnut Street in the North End section of the city, fell asleep in the Lord New Year's Eve in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital following a prolonged illness.

Born March 1, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Kavka) Mendusky.  Educated in the city schools, she was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

In her younger days, she worked as a business clerk for the former Percy A. Brown Company of Wilkes-Barre.  More, recently Dolly worked as a homemaker for former noted Wilkes-Barre attorney, the late John Hessel, Esquire in his home, now known as Hessel Hall at King's College. Dolly was most proud of and is remembered by those who knew and loved her for her most current role as a devoted, loving mother to her beloved family, raising her children and grandchildren into adulthood.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Peter Pazuhanich in 1999, by her daughter Janet Marie Alishusky in 1988 and most recently by her brother John Mendusky in 2002.

Surviving are her son, Mark P. Pazuhanich and his companion, Linda Terrell of East Stroudsburg;  Grandchildren, including Justin Alishusky, Ashley Alishusky, both at home and Bethany Pazuhanich of Howell, NJ;  Several nieces and nephews; Beloved friends, Colleen DeFazio of Pittston and Linda Balara of Wyoming.

Funeral services with Panachida will be conducted on Saturday at 9:00 a.m. from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 North Main Street, North Wilkes-Barre, followed by the Office of Christian Burial with Divine Liturgy in Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m. with the Very Reverend James G. Hayer, pastor, officiating.

Interment with Rite of Committal will follow in the parish cemetery, Lake Street, Dallas.

Relatives and friends may join her family for visitation and remembrances Friday from 2:00 until 4:00 and 7:00 umtil 9:00 p.m.
