Daniel Kivler Obituary

Mr. Daniel J. "Danny" Kivler, 62, a resident of Church Road, Nuangola borough of Rice Township, entered into Eternal Life in the comfort of his residence surrounded by his loving family following a prolonged illness.

Born August 7, 1956 in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son to the late Harry and Anna Kivler.  He was educated in the Hanover Area schools and furthered his education by attaining college courses towards his vocation.

Until illness caused his early retirement, Daniel was employed as a heat and frost insulator with Local #38 of Wilkes-Barre where he previously served as an instructor in the union hall's apprentice program.  Prior to that, he worked at the Susquehanna nuclear energy plant in Berwick.

In his spare time, Daniel took pride in tending to his many gardens at the home over the years.  He is remembered as being a loving husband, father, step-father and grand pop who provided for his family.

He and his wife, Suzanne E. Leonard celebrated 22 years of life together on January 11th of this year.

In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by several sisters and a brother.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Suzanne E. Leonard at home;  the couple's children, including Daniel G. Kivler and his companion Emily Baranowski, at home; Stephen Leonard and his companion Samantha Elmy also at home; Katlynn Leonard and her companion, Michael Siley of Mountain Top; Step-son, Christopher and his companion Brittany of Nanticoke; and Kevin Kivler.  Grandchildren, Max Anthony and Hannah Celia;  A sister, Mrs. Ruth Platt of Tunkhannock; Brother-in-law, Eugene George of the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre;  Several nieces, nephews, fellow union members and dear friends.

Memorial funeral services for Daniel will be conducted on Friday at 4:30 p.m. from the Wilkes-Barre Heights location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 281 East Northampton Street.

Relatives and friends may join Daniel's family for visitation and remembrances from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.

Danny's family would like to gratefully acknowledge the staff of Celtic Healthcare home hospice for the exceptional care they gave to the entire family in his final days.

In lieu of floral tributes, Dan's family would be humbled if those contemplating a monetary donation in his memory, kindly consider  the Mesothelioma Research foundation of America at www.mesorfa.org/support/GiveInMemory.php
