John David H. "Red" Kirwan

     "Red is Dead"..... a statement previously requested for his own obituary by Mr. John David H. "Red" Kirwan, 68, a former resident of the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, currently a resident of East Main Street Plymouth, passed into eternal life Saturday in the Thomas Jefferson Medical Center, Philadelphia following a recent illness.

     Born December 6, 1949 in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son to the late John and Rebecca (Price) Kirwan.  Educated in the city schools, he was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

     Until his retirement, Mr. Kirwan was employed as a social worker with V.I.S.I.O.N. of Wilkes-Barre.  Prior to that, he worked as a union pipe fitter for many years.

     In his spare time, John David enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid fisherman.  He also held membership in the North End Slovak Citizens Club, Wilkes-Barre.

     He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Maureen "Molly" (Donnelly) Kirwan.

     Left to mourn his passing are his son, Rory Kirwan and his wife Melissa of Larksville;  Granddaughters Lia and Aubrey Kirwan; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     Funeral services for Red will be conducted Saturday evening at 5:00 p.m. from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street.

     Interment will be private and at the convenience of his family in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township.

     Relatives and friends may join the Kirwan family for visitation and remembrances Saturday evening from 3:00 p.m. until the time of services.
