Mr. Jon A.”Tony” Sninsky, 70, a resident of the North End section of the city, passed into Eternal Life late Sunday evening in the care of The Gardens at Wyoming Valley, central Wilkes-Barre following a recent illness.

Born March 2, 1948 in Pittsburgh, he was a son to the late John A. and Florence (Zehosky) Sninsky.  Following the passing of his father when he was age nine, the family relocated to the Wyoming Valley.

Educated in the local schools, he was a graduate of the former Plains High School, Class of 1966.  Mr. Sninsky furthered his education by attaining an Associates Degree in Business from the Wilkes-Barre Campus of the Pennsylvania State University in Lehman Township.  He also achieved several college credits in business from then Wilkes College in Wilkes-Barre.

Until an injury caused his early retirement, Mr. Sninsky was employed as a manager by Poseidon Pools of Wilkes-Barre.  Previously, he worked with the former Muskin Pools and Olympic Pools for several years in management.

Mr. Sninky held membership in the North End Slovak Citizens Club, Wilkes-Barre, and in his spare time enjoyed rooting for his favorite football teams, Penn State University and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He and his wife, the former Marietta Berlew celebrated forty-eight years of married life together on August 22nd of this year.

Left to mourn his passing, in addition to his beloved wife Marietta at home, are the couple's children, Jon A. Jr. and his wife Leslie of Cape Coral , FL; Jennifer Sninsky and her companion, Tom Flannery of Wilkes-Barre; Jason Sninsky of Wikes-Barre and Christopher Sninsky and his wife Ashley of Hanover Township;  Grandchildren, including Tyler, Preston, Peyton, Alexander and Carter;  A great-granddaughter, Lila Mae;  Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Tony’s family would like to gratefully acknowledge the care and compassion shown their dad by Dr. John Yanoshak, Dr. Isis Miller and the staff of the Gardens of Wyoming Valley in his final days.

Memorial funeral services for Mr. Sninsky will be announced in a forthcoming edition of the newspaper from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street.
