Mrs. Katherine L. "Kathy" (Gilgallon) Borowski, 71, a resident of the Brookside section of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Monday afternoon in the care of the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following a recent illness.
Born April 11, 1948 in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nancy (King) Gilgallon. Educated in the Olyphant schools, she was a member of the 1966 graduating class of the former Olyphant High School.
Mrs. Borowski previously was employed in hospitality as a waitress for Sterner's Restaurant, and later, Chick's Diner, both of the Olyphant and Scranton areas. She retired from Cinram (formerly WEA Manufacturing) of Olyphant.
Locally, she held membership in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, North Wilkes-Barre, having previously attended the former Holy Savior Roman Catholic Church.
Mrs. Borowski is remembered as being a loving devoted wife to her husband, Mr. John E. Borowski, with whom, celebrated forty-eight years of married life together on October 24, of 2018.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Heather in 1975 and more recently by a brother, Mr. Daniel Gilgallon in 2008.
In addition to her beloved husband John at home, Kathy was a wonderful mother to the couple's children, John Borowski III, at home and Meggin Borowski of Pottstown.
Kathy was a proud grandma to her adoring grandson, Noah Ritter, Pottstown, of whom she was so proud for his local and national notoriety on WNEP and the Ellen Degeneres Show for his impromptu reporting on the Wayne County Fair several years ago. She loved taking Noah to any exhibit that offered dinosaurs, of which he was fascinated.
Also left to hold her memory dear are brothers, James Gilgallon and his wife Cecilia and John Gilgallon along with his wife Carol, all of Olyphant; Sisters, including Ann Marie Kurilla, Olyphant; Elizabeth Jones of Scranton; Patty DellaCruz and her husband Dan of Fulsom, CA and Sally Wilmart along with her husband David of Dunmore; Numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, neighbors and many dear friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Borowski will be conducted on Saturday, September 21st with her memorial funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.
The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the Borowski family.
Relatives and friends may join Mr. Borowski and his family for visitation and remembrances Saturday morning directly at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass.
