Mr. Michael Peter Lelakowski, 82, a resident of the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township, passed into Eternal Life early Christmas morning, December 25th in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born November 14, 1936 in Krakow, Poland, Mr. Lelakowski was the son of the late Sebastian and Helen Lelakowski and was educated in the Polish schools.
Michael immigrated to the United States at the age of twenty-nine in 1965, and later became a citizen of this country in 1971 at the age of thirty-five, settling in the Wyoming Valley. It was here he would meet and eventually marry the former Leokadia Sidwa in October of 1966, raising three children.
A laborer in the manufacturing industry, Mr. Lelakowski was most recently employed with Pride Mobility Company in Exeter prior to his retirement.
He held membership in Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Main Road, Hanover Township.
Left to mourn his passing and cherish his memory are his beloved wife of fifty-two years, Leokadia, at home; the couple's children, Mark Lelakowski and his wife Jennifer of White Haven; Lisa Dowling, her husband Jeffery and their children Olivia and Benjamin of Shavertown; Diane Lelakowski, her daughter Demitra Tonkin of Hanover Township; Several nieces nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Lelakowski will be private and at the convenience of his family from the North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc., 625 North Main Street. Inurnment will be in the family lot of Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Keeping with his own wishes, there will be no formal visitation hours.
