Barbara Davis Obituary

Mrs. Barbara Ann (Hoats) Davis, 78, a resident of Land O Lakes, Florida and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life suddenly on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in Florida.  Due to the ongoing pandemic, her memorial funeral arrangements have been postponed until this coming weekend.

Born Mary 24, 1941 in Wilkes-Barre, she was one of six children and the only daughter to the late Clifford J. and Mildred (Shepard) Hoats.  Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1959 graduating class of the Elmer L. Meyers High School, Wilkes-Barre, and furthered her education towards her vocation in cosmetology.

Following her formal education, she opened Barbara's Hair Fashions on South Main Street in Wilkes-Barre, and operated there and in her home successfully until the family's relocation to Boyertown in 1982.

In her spare time, Barb was an accomplished artist, winning several awards for her works in pastels, including being named State Champion for her work, "The Lilies" in 1978.  Barb also loved to sing and play the piano and organ, having served as both choir member and choral conductor of several ensembles during her lifetime.  She was also an enthusiast of bocce ball and water ballet.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Gary, John, Kenneth, Boyd and Robert Hoats and most recently by her beloved husband, Mr. Wayne A. Davis on June 16, 2018.  At the time of Mr. Davis' passing, the couple celebrated fifty-four years of married life together a few weeks earlier on May 30th of 2018.

Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of her are her loving sons, Wayne Clifford Davis and his wife Annmarie of Cinnaminson, N.J.; John Owen Davis and his husband Joshua Haddad of Tampa, FL: Sisters-in-law, including June Hoats, Catherine Hoats, Rosalyn Hoats, Margaret Hoats, Vera Hoats and Marsha Dunlap and her husband Richard as well as numerous nieces, nephews, her faithful companion, her dog, Emma and many wonderful friends.  Barb was greatly loved and adored by her family and friends.  Her presence will be profoundly missed by all those she touched in this life.

Memorial funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 24th 10:00 a.m. in the community room of Wyoming Hose Company #2, 70 East Third Street, Wyoming.

Relatives and friends may join Barb's family for visitation and shared remembrances from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.  Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
