Barbara Sherman Obituary
Ms. Barbara (Rakovic) Sherman, 59, affectionately known by family as friends as "Cookie", passed peacefully into eternal rest the afternoon of Thursday, June 24, 2021 while in the care of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, following a lingering illness.
Born November 12, 1961 in New York City, she was one of four children to Mrs. Barbara (Jahelka) Rakovic of Wayne, New Jersey and the late Charles Rakovic.
Barbara was educated in the Manhattan Borough of the New York City School System until her graduation from high school.
In her youth, she enjoyed playing softball with her sister. More recently until illness caused her early retirement, Barbara was employed as a sales associate in an antique store.
Ms. Sherman is best remembered as being a loving and devoted daughter, mother, sister, cousin and friend to all who knew and loved her. Her presence will be greatly missed by all those she touched during her young life.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Charles Rakovic most recently in October of 2020 and by her sister, Mrs. Stephanie Marletta on July 17, 2017.
Left to cherish the memories they keep of her in addition to her mother, Mrs. Barbara Rakovic of Wayne, N.J. are her loving daughter, Miss Rebecca Jean "Becky" Sherman of the Bronx Borough of New York City; Sister, Ms. Debbie Effers of Butler, N.J.; Brother, Mr. Charles Rakovic and his wife Carol of Wayne, N.J.; Brother-in-law, Mr. Dean J. Marletta of Bloomingdale, New Jersey along with several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Funeral services for Ms. Sherman will be held privately and at the convenience of her family from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. There will be no public calling hours.
