Mrs. Catherine A. Zapotowski, 86, a resident of Binghamton, New York, and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Thursday morning, June 3, 2021 in the Bridgewater Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing.
Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Elizabeth Maughn. She was educated in the Wilkes-Barre schools, and was a graduate of the James M. Coughlin High School, class of 1952.
Catherine grew up in the East End section of Wilkes-Barre before meeting her husband, Bernard.
In 1974 she married the love of her life and relocated to Binghamton, N.Y. While residing in Binghamton, she was employed, along with her husband, at Grumman Aircraft, which later became Northrup Grumman.
Preceding her in death was her daughter, Karen Ann Zapotowski.
Surviving is her husband Bernard, with whom she celebrated 74 years of marriage; daughter, Christina Marie Zapotowski, Long Island, N.Y.
A blessing service will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor of the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, North Wilkes-Barre, will serve as celebrant.
Interment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Mount Olivet Roman Catholic Cemetery, Carverton section of Kingston Township.
Relatives and friends may join Catherine's family for visitation and shared remembrances from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
