Cyril Baloga Obituary

Mr. Cyril B "Cy" Baloga, 81, a lifelong resident of Wilkes-Barre's North End neighborhood, passed into eternal life early Sunday morning while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.

Born July 29, 1938 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of seven children to the late August and Anna (Ungvarsky) Baloga.  Educated in the Catholic faith, he was a graduate of the former Sacred Heart of Jesus Slovak Parochial School of North Wilkes-Barre.  He then furthered his education by graduating from the former Saint Nicholas High School.

A carpenter by trade, Mr. Baloga began his life's vocation working with his brother John in the family business, John J. Baloga Construction Company of North Wilkes-Barre, building many homes that adorn the hillside streets of that neighborhood and abroad.

He later took employment with the Local Carpenter's Union, #514.

In his spare time, Cy could be seen tending his annual gardens, paying particular attention to his apple trees and tomato plants.  He also enjoyed cooking, especially for his grandchildren of whom he loved dearly.

He and his wife, the former Dolores Spak celebrated fifty-three years of married life together on September 2 of last year.

Mr. Baloga was preceded in death by brothers, Augustine J. Baloga in 1993; John J. Baloga in 2005 and by Edward Baloga in 1992; by sisters, Anna (Sally) Baloga in 2007 and by Bernadine Baloga in 2010, as well as several nephews.

Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of Cy in addition to his beloved wife Dolores at home are the couple's son, Vincent C. Baloga and his wife Jennifer of Freeland;  Grandchildren, Brian, Lindsey, Zaine and Azariah Baloga;  Brother, Mr. Joseph A. Baloga and his wife Sally of North Wilkes-Barre; Brother-in-law; Daniel Spak and his wife Carol of Tobyhanna; Sisters-in-law; Bernadine Spak and Carol Frankovich along with her husband Raymond, all of Plains Township;  numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews; neighbors and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Baloga will be private and at the convenience of his family due to the current heath crisis.  The North Wilkes-Barre location of the John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc. is honored to care for our friend, Mr. Baloga and his family at this time.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Cemetery of Saint Andre Bessette Parish, Dorchester Drive, Dallas.  The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor will serve as celebrant and leader of worship.
