Daniel Shedlock Obituary

Mr. Daniel D. Shedlock, 79, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend passed into Eternal Life Saturday morning in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center following a recent illness.
Born October 18, 1942 in Wilkes-Barre, he just celebrated his seventy-ninth birthday two weeks prior to his passing.  He was one of eleven children to the late Andrew and Anna (Matichka) Shedlock.  Educated in the city schools, he attended the former James M. Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre.  He, like many of his generation, left school early to join the United States Marine Corps during the Viet Nam War.  He served two enlistments with the Marines, earning the rank of Sergeant upon the time of his honorable discharge from military duties on December 20, 1968.
While in high school, he would meet his sweetheart, the former Rosemary Chopko. They married on June 9, 1962.  Together the couple raised two generations of children, sharing almost sixty years of married life together.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Shedlock was employed for over thirty years in the production department at the Inter Metro Corporation in Wilkes-Barre.
In his spare time, Daniel was an avid reader, and was a staunch New York Giants football fan, despite how well the season was going for them.
He was preceded in death by siblings Anne Shedlock, Marian Totino, Andrew Shedlock, Michael Shedlock, Dolores Haggerty, Patricia Rock, Thomas Shedlock and Florence Shovlin.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his beloved wife Rosemary at home, are the couple's children including Mark Shedlock of Pittston; Colleen Eddinger of Hughesville; Susan Stanski and her husband Robert of Centermoreland; Dr. Daniel Shedlock and his wife Catrina of Knoxville, TN; Gary Shedlock and his wife Karen of Forty-Fort; Paul Shedlock and his wife Melanie also of Knoxville, TN; Laura Shedlock of Plains; Nine grandchildren; Sarah, Robert, Emily, Alyssa, Johnny, Dylan, Morgan, Abigail and Madelyn;  Brother, Mr. Joseph Shedlock and his wife Phyllis of Long Pond; Sister, Mrs. Helen McDonald of Florida; Numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Shedlock will be conducted on Thursday with his memorial Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. in the Parish of Saint Andre Bessette, 668 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  The Reverend Kenneth M. Seegar, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Inurnment with the Rite of Committal will follow in Saint Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery, 1594 South Main Street, Hanover Township, where military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps.
Relatives and friends may join the Shedlock family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at church Thursday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
The John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, is honored to care for Mr. Shedlock and his family at this time.
