Mr. James P. "Jim" Benson, 55, a resident of Wilkes-Barre's North End neighborhood, passed into Eternal Life early Saturday morning, September 17, 2022 while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital; following a recent illness.
Born on Thursday, March 9, 1967 in Wilkes-Barre, he was one of five children to Mr. John F. Sr. and Mrs. Ann Marie (Dravage) Benson of North Wilkes-Barre. Educated in the city schools, Jim attended the former James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Locally, he was employed as a master electrician with several electrical contractors for many years.
Enjoying his solitude, Jim is best remembered as being a wonderful loving son, father and grandfather to his beloved family who will forever miss his presence in their lives.
Tragically, Jim was preceded in death by his brother Joseph P. Benson on June 2, 2009.
Left to cherish his memory in addition to his parents John and Ann Marie are his children, James Jr. of Kingston, Nicole of Laflin and Justin also of Kingston; four grandchildren; Brother, John F. Benson Jr. of North Wilkes-Barre; Sisters, Judith Knesis and her husband Stanley of Mountain Top; Joyce Dehner of New Jersey; Several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Funeral services for Jim will be conducted on Wednesday with his funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in the Church of Saint Nicholas, 226 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Mark J. Decelles, assistant pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of the Benson family.
Relatives and friends may join Jim's family for visitation and shared remembrances directly at Saint Nicholas Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
