Ms. Kimberly A. "Kimmy" Brenner, 54, a resident of Wilkes-Barre's Heights neighborhood, passed into eternal life Tuesday evening in Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre, following a recent illness.
Born on Friday, October 13, 1967 in Wilkes-Barre, she was one of four children to the late Robert C. Brenner, who passed on August 1, 2000 and Janet I. (Drevenak) Brenner, who passed on October 26, 2015.
Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1985 graduating class of the Grand Army of the Republic Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.
Until illness caused her early retirement, Kimmy was employed for many years in the hospitality industry as a housekeeper for the Holiday Inn East Mountain, Plains Township. She previously worked with the BiWell Hosiery Company of Wilkes-Barre.
Kim was a lifelong member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre.
Socially, and in her spare time, she held membership in the Ukrainian Club of Wilkes-Barre.
Above all else, Kimmy is remembered as being a loving and encouraging mother to her beloved son, Corey. She was his biggest fan; especially during his youth athletic programs. Although her physical presence will be greatly missed as Corey and Corena exchange wedding vows on June 4th, her memory will always remain in their hearts and the hearts of all those she touched in this life.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law, Tom McHugh and more recently, Mark Benjamin in October of 2021.
Left to cherish her memory in addition to her son Corey F. Brenner and his fiancée, Corena Prato of Hanover Township; her fiancé, Eric Redick, at home; Sisters, Christine Paul and her husband Robbie and Renee Brenner, all of Wilkes-Barre; Brother, Robert Brenner of Kingston; Sisters-in-law, Shirley Redick of Wilkes-Barre, Sharon Redick Conklin and her husband Robert Sr. of Harvey's Lake; Former sister-in-law and dear friend, Donna Brenner of Plains; Numerous nieces, nephews and many wonderful friends.
Funeral services for Kimmy will be conducted on Saturday, May 7 at 11:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre. The Reverend Peter J. Haenftling, pastor of Saint Matthew will serve as celebrant and leader of worship.
Interment will be held privately and at the convenience of her family next to her parents in Maple Hill Cemetery, 68 East Saint Mary's Road, Hanover Township.
In lieu of floral tributes, memorial donations are greatly appreciated in Kimmy's memory to the charity of the donor's choosing.
Relatives and friends may join the family for visitation and shared remembrances Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
