Mrs. Loretta A. (Charnoski) Slavinski, 86, formerly of Blue Ridge Trail, Slocum Township, passed peacefully early in the morning of Tuesday, May 5 while in the care of the Gardens of Wyoming Valley where she recently resided.
Born February 27, 1934 in Ashley, she was one of seven children to the late Peter and Anna (Raczkowski) Charnoski. Educated in the Ashley schools, she was a graduate of the former Ashley High School, Class of 1952.
Until her retirement, Mrs. Slavinski was employed in the valley's garment industry as a sewing machine operator for the Leslie Fay Company for many years.
She previously held active membership in Holy Assumption of Saint Mary Byzantine Catholic Church, North Wilkes-Barre, where she would make homemade pies and a variety of ethnic foods for various church functions.
Loretta was preceded in death by her beloved husband John on August 28, 2009. The couple had just celebrated sharing fifty years of married life together on October 12, 2008 prior to his passing. She also was preceded by brothers John and Edward Charnoski and by sisters Catherine Jones and Josephine Charnoski.
Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of Loretta are brothers Mr. Charles Charnoski of Nanticoke and Mr. Elmer Charnoski and his wife Maria of North Carolina; Nieces; Carol, Kimberly, Lisa, Ann Marie and nephew, Charles Jr. along with their families; former parishioners and dear friends including Mr. John Yurescko.
Due to the current health crisis, funeral services for Mrs. Slavinski will be held privately and at the convenience of her family. Interment with prayers of committal will be next to her husband in Oaklawn Cemetery, 1250 South Main Street, Hanover Township.
