Margaret Mihoch Obituary

Mrs. Margaret (Sabol) Mihoch, 93, formerly of Plymouth, Bear Creek and most recently, the Chapin Apartments, Kingston, passed peacefully into eternal life Friday, the afternoon of December 4th while in the care of Allied Services Center City, following a recent illness.

Born Christmastime, December 19, 1926 in Wilkes-Barre, she would have celebrated her 94th birthday next week; being one of two children to the late Andrew and Helen (Tershak) Sabol.  Educated in the city schools, she was a member of the 1944 graduating class of the James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre.

Mrs. Mihoch was a life member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Wilkes-Barre where she previously was involved in various church activities.  She was a member of the congregation's choir; held membership in the Martha Society/Dorcas Guild; participated with the church quilters and also was a member of the Grace Chapel Guild of Bear Creek.

On Sunday, July 15, 1945, Margaret was joined in marriage to Milan B. Mihoch in St Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, beginning their journey of fifty-seven years of life together.

Margaret was employed at Old River Road Bakery and Bergman's Department Store, later assisting her husband in the daily operations of his insurance business, the Milan Mihoch Insurance Agency, until his retirement.

In their spare time, the couple enjoyed entertaining family and friends, especially for holiday gatherings. Margaret was known for her preparation and presentation of many specialty dishes and delicious desserts!  Mrs. Mihoch and her husband looked forward to frequent trips both home and abroad. She always accompanied her husband on various trips during his tenure in office within the Masonic Lodge.  Above all else, Margaret is remembered as being a loving, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother to her adoring family.  Her gentle presence will be greatly missed by all those she touched in this life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milan, on May 27, 2003.  Also preceding her was her son-in-law, Charlton (Fred) Kase Jr. on May 7, 2011; Brother, Daniel Sabol on February 19, 2000 and most recently, her sister-in-law and dear friend, Barbara A. Sabol on December 23, 2019.

Left to cherish the wonderful memories they hold of her are her daughters; Janice Lynn Mihoch-Gavlick and Sandra Jean Kase, both of Kingston; Grandchildren; Jeremy Gavlick; Shelby Kase Watchilla, her husband James and their children Emma and Lily; Scott C. Kase, his wife Stacey and their children, Scott F., Rosalyn, Lily, Trinity, Zander and Kennedy; Lesley Kase O'Boyle, her husband Michael and their children Calvin and Peyton; and Matthew Kase; several nieces and nephews, fellow congregation members, and dear friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mihoch will be conducted on Saturday, December 12 at noon, with graveside committal services next to her husband in the family lot of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Midland Avenue, Dallas.  The Reverend Peter J. Haenftling, pastor of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church will serve as celebrant and leader of worship.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family would be humbled if those wishing to make a monetary donation in their mother's memory, kindly give consideration to her beloved church, Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18705.

Participants wishing to attend are kindly asked to assemble directly at the cemetery by 11:45 a.m. prior to the start of the service.  Due to the ongoing health crisis, protective facial masks and social distancing mandates are required by all in attendance.

The John V. Morris Family Funeral Homes Inc. of Wilkes-Barre are honored to care for our friend, Mrs. Mihoch and her family at this time.
