Mrs. Olga M. (Sekel) Kozlowski, 93, formerly of Temple Apartments, Edwardsville; more recently, a resident of Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke, passed into eternal life peacefully Tuesday, April 19th while in the care of the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, following a recent illness.
Born on Wednesday, August 29, 1928 in Kingston, she was one of seven children to the late John and Mary (Sabonis) Sekel. She was educated in the West Side schools.
During her youth, Mrs. Kozlowski was employed by the R.C.A. Corporation in Mountain Top. Additionally, she worked as a sales lady for Sarah Coventry Jewelry for several years.
A lifelong and faithful member of Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church of North Wilkes-Barre, Mrs. Kozlowski had previously been active in various church affairs including membership in the Dorcas Guild and had also served as a Sunday school teacher.
A consummate homemaker, she is best remembered as being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to her beloved family. Her physical presence will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Richard Kozlowski in 1996 and by sisters, Marie Hrivnak and Vilma E. Beky; Brothers, John and Dan Sekel and an infant sister, Betty.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Dr. Richard "Rick" Kozlowski and his wife Colleen of Waterford, VT and Robert "Rob" Kozlowski of Mountain Top. Grandchildren, including Courtney Bertolini and her husband Dylan; Brendan and Cameron Kozlowski; Great Grandson, Enso Bertolini; Sister, Mrs. Ellen Marshalla and her husband Edward of Pringle; Several nieces, nephews, fellow congregants and dear friends.
The Kozlowski family would like to gratefully acknowledge Dr. Janus Wolanin and the staff of Birchwood Nursing Center for the care given to their mother especially in her final days.
Funeral services for Mrs. Kozlowski will be conducted on Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, followed by service at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Matthew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 663 North Main Street. The Reverend Peter J. Haenftling, pastor will serve as celebrant and leader of worship.
Interment with prayers of committal will be in Saint Matthew Lawn section of Fern Knoll Burial Park, Midland Avenue, Dallas.
Relatives and friends may join the family for visitation and shared remembrances Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
