Robert Moss Obituary

Mr. Robert A. “Bob” Moss, 73, a well-known and respected woodworking contractor, passed peacefully into Eternal Life early Monday morning while in the care of Allied Services Hospice Center, Wilkes-Barre.

Born on Sunday, May 22, 1949, he was the son of Mr. Robert L. Moss, North Wilkes-Barre, and the late Mrs. Ethel Ann (Daniels) Moss, who passed in 2017.

Bob was educated in the city schools, being a graduate of the former Saint Mary's High School, Wilkes-Barre.  He later furthered his education by studying accounting and finance at Wilkes College.

Following his formal education, he enlisted and proudly served with the U.S. Air Force Reserves.  He began his professional career as a Latent Fingerprint Specialist with the FBI; later he was employed as an administrative superintendent with the Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation.  He was most recognized as the owner and operator of Bob Moss Construction in Wilkes-Barre and Plains.  It was here he was able to really utilize his creative skills building a wide variety of fixtures in homes throughout the Wyoming Valley.

His love of construction and being hands-on continued in his spare time.  He was the Vice President of Wood and Production for the Luzerne County chapter of "Sleep in Heavenly Peace"; building beds for children who otherwise went without.

Bob is best remembered as being a loving devoted husband and father to his adoring family.  He was blessed to be married for fifty years to his high school sweetheart, the former Charlene Tuzinski.  She and the family will greatly miss his presence in their lives.

Left to cherish the wonderful memories they keep of him, in addition to his beloved wife Charlene at home, are the couple's children Amy Moss Gilvary and her fiancé, Leonard Elgonitis of Hanover Township; Robert C. Moss and his wife Gwen of Lehman and Lindsay Sadowski and her husband Tristan of Mountain Top.  Grandchildren, including Brandon and Alyssa Gilvary; Paige Moss; Landon, Everly and Harper Sadowski; Great-grandchildren, Brielle, Jacob and Payton Duncan; and sister Sallie Moss of Plains.

Services for Mr. Moss will be conducted on Friday at 6:30 p.m. from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre.  The Reverend Monsignor John J. Sempa, pastor of Corpus Christi parish, West Pittston, will serve as celebrant.

Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Relatives and friends may join the Moss family for visitation and shared remembrances Friday from 5:00 pm until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of floral tributes, Bob's family would be humbled if those wishing to make a monetary donation in his memory, kindly give consideration to the Luzerne County chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace online at: https://shpbeds.org/chapter/pa-luzerne-co.
