Susan J. (Dougher) Kennedy

Susan J. Kennedy, 64, of Wilkes-Barre, passed into Eternal Life Monday, August 22, 2022, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.

Born on Wednesday, January 29, 1958 in Wilkes-Barre, she was a daughter of Ann (Phillips) Dougher, of Wilkes-Barre, and the late Joseph Dougher. Educated in the city schools, Susan was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School, Wilkes-Barre. For many years, she was employed by Dana Perfume, Mountain Top, and prior to her retirement, she was employed by Luzerne Optical Laboratories, Wilkes-Barre. She was a member of the First Catholic Ladies Association. She loved her animals and family, selflessly taking care of them and putting their needs above her own.

In addition to her father, Susan was preceded in death by her sister, Eileen Shalata.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 46 years, William A. Kennedy, at home; Children, William J. Kennedy and his wife, Tiffany, Mountain Top; and Tammy McDonough and her husband, Sean of Ashley; Granddaughter, Irelynn Grace Kennedy; Siblings, including Joann Klinesmith and late husband, Jeff, Wilkes-Barre; Kathy Capristo and husband, Ralph, Kutztown; Debbie Hoffman and husband, Scott, Perkiomenville; Maria Coolbaugh and Tim Geski, Wilkes-Barre; Joseph Dougher and wife, Jeanette, Wilkes-Barre; Mary Ellen Myers and husband, Raymond, Mountain Top; Coleen Pugh and husband, Fran, Plains Township; Annie Seiwell, McAdoo; Numerous nieces and nephews; and her six fur baby grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday from the John V. Morris Family Funeral Home Inc., 625 North Main Street, Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in Saints Peter and Paul Roman Catholic Parish, 13 Hudson Road, Plains Township.  The Reverend John C. Lambert, pastor, will serve as celebrant and homilist.

Interment with the Rite of Committal will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park, PA Route #415, Dallas.

Relatives and friends may join Mrs. Kennedy's family for visitation and shared remembrances from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
